Moodboard - Midnight Bamboo

A beautiful bamboo print trend, which lends itself perfectly to sophisticated evening dressing. Soft brush strokes feminise the prints whilst an earthy colour palette of soft green's and midnight blue add to the richness of the trend. Flowing silk garments and delicate organza panels allow the prints to almost fade into the background, preventing any harsh lines. An elegant print trend with traditional artistic references. Key Designers: Armani Prive and Valentino

S/S 16 Tailoring Trend - Fluidity

For Spring/Summer many people opt for bright colours, but this is one S/S 16 trend that steers away from that. If you, like me, don't really like wearing bold colours then take reference from the latest tailoring trend 'Fluidity' for styling and colour inspiration. Beautifully draped ankle skimming dresses, floor sweeping skirts and trousers, and loose fitting waterfall coats, all in soft blush hues. Seen on the runway at the likes of The Row and Tibi, this tailoring trend is both elegant and timeless. This is sophisticated dressing for summer.
The Row, Sharon Wauchob, Tibi, Narciso Rodriguez, Calvin Klein
Satin and silk are the key fabrics, both ideal from draping. I have put together this edit of best the luxury market has to offer when it comes to soft tailoring in neutral shades.
1. Tibi £800 / 2. Maiyet £720 / 3. The Row £2130 / 4. Jason Wu £1125
5. Helmut Lang £404 / 6. Calvin Klein £1279 / 7. Burberry £1595 / 8. Theory £500
Some of the red carpet's most influential style icons have already got started following this trend including: Dree Hemingway, Jaime King, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Elizabeth Olsen and Selena Gomez. As you can see, accessories should be kept to a minimal. Same goes for hair and make up.

On Trend Now - Sweatshirt Dress

'Athleisure' is one of the hottest buzzwords in fashion. Used to describe sportswear that is also intended to be worn as daywear, there is currently no escaping this trend. Whether it be on the runway, the highstreet or the sidewalk, activewear is huge at the moment. One of the key styles that defines the athleisure aesthetic, is wearing an oversized sweatshirt as a dress. This look takes a certain level of confidence to wear, as often these sweatshirts have a super short hemline. Keeping colours to a minimum, the main way to style this look is to dress it up with over the knee boots or skyscraper heels. The likes of: Kourtney Kardashian, Chiara Ferragni, Rihanna, Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner are all fans of this androgynous look.
If you are looking to invest in this trend, then take a look at this edit I have put together highlighting some of the best oversized sweatshirts the luxury market has to offer. If there is one brand in particular I recommend you look at, it is Vetements - they pretty much own this entire style. Other key brands include: Hood by Air and Alexander Wang.
1. ALYX £398 / 2. Alexander Wang £405 / 3. Stella McCartney £855
4. Adidas £65 / 5. Vetements £415 / 6. Hood by Air $450
7. Isabel Marant £411 / 8. G.V.G.V £253 / 9. G.V.G.V £303

A/W 16 Trendboard - Après Ski

Did you notice the incredible ski slopes print that featured in Peter Pilotto's A/W 16 collection? It was hard to spot at first and could have been mistaken for a textured print, but it was in fact one of the coolest prints of the season. The print in question featured various coloured ski routes at an Austrian ski resort - an off-piste print you could say! After LFW, Pucci showcased a similar ski inspired collection in Milan with mountain prints and ski-wear bodysuits. In Paris, Balenciaga and Vetements showed voluminous ski jackets in bold colours. All in all these collections formed the building blocks of one of my favourite emerging trends for A/W 16. Oversized padded jackets have been popular for a the past couple of seasons, with Vetements bringing this look to the forefront of fashion, and the front row. So you won't go wrong investing in this look and it will bring your wardrobe right up to date for Fall.

Brand to Know - Vetements

Parisienne brand Vetements is making some serious waves in the world of fashion. Founded in 2014 by brothers, Demna and Guram Gvasalia, they joined forces with their collective of friends to make up the team at Vetements. Shifting away from the constraints of traditional fashion houses, Vetements has breathed a new lease of life into the Paris fashion scene with youthful collections and oversized cuts. Oh...and did I mention that Demna also happens to be the newly appointed Artistic Director at Balenciaga? Having worked his way through the ranks at Louis Vuitton and Maison Martin Margiela, his new role at Balenciaga, following Alexander Wang's departure, will run alongside his head designer position at Vetements. Stepping away from conventions, the brand is going from strength to strength having already been nominated for LVMH's 'Young Fashion Designer' prize. For S/S16, seen below, the collection was multifaceted. Twee floral prairie prints were seen on smock dresses, as well as being printed onto plastic tablecloths which then became apron dresses. Velvet, leather and denim were also key fabrics and of course the brands signature 'hoodie' made an appearance emblazoned with a scene from Titanic. What's not to love about that?
Adding to this brands new approach to fashion, it was announced that going forward they will show their A/W collections in January and their S/S collections in June. These dates coincide with other fashion houses Pre-Fall collections, a time when fashion buyers have a premium budget to allocate to the next season. This also means that the mainline collection will be in stores for longer before it goes into the sale, generating a higher revenue. The S/S16 collection was snapped up by the likes of Net-a-Porter and Matches Fashion, but is now widely sold out.
Vetements has already racked up an army of loyal devotees, including Rihanna and Selena Gomez - showing that their collections can be styled in many different ways. A brand to watch for sure!

OMG! was my quite simply my first thought when I saw the incredible American Vogue May cover shoot with Taylor Swift. Covering the May edition to coincide with the Met Gala, of which Taylor is co-chair, the shoot see's Taylor dressed head-to-toe in edgy and futuristic dresses - appropriately styled to suit the Met Gala theme: Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology! This is one of my favourite Taylor editorials I think I have ever seen. Take a look at the editorial images and let me know what you think of Taylor's new look...

Coachella Outfits - Get The Look

It is that time of year again when the stars and festival fans flock to Indio, California, for Coachella. With the likes of: LCD Soundsystem, Guns N' Roses, Calvin Harris, Ellie Goulding and Sufjan Stevens taking to the stage this year, anyone who has ever been to a music festival will know that all eyes will  also be on who's wearing what. Coachella has a seriously cool Californian vibe, so think pops of bright colour, hints of bohemianism and lightweight fabrics...you can save your Barbour and Hunter's for Glastonbury. Take a look at my Coachella style edit below...
Outfit 1
It doesn't get more 'festival' than this outfit: khaki shirt, embroidered Isabel Marant skirt, studded cowboy boots and one of the must-have bags of the season from Chloe. This is an effortlessly stylish festival outfit, the likes of which you would see Kate Bosworth or Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wearing. This is also a perfect non-festival everyday summer outfit as well.
Outfit 2
I styled this outfit around a great Modal/Cashmere 'Boho' scarf from Jane Carr. Perfect for covering up from the sun and perfect when the temperature drops in the evening and you want to escape a cool breeze. This outfit is super feminine with a 'Bardot' style dress, an obligatory festival fedora and a pair of gladiator sandals, also with pom poms.
Outfit 3
When in America, it doesn't get more patriotic than a stars and stripes skirt and baseball jacket. Athleisure is a huge trend at the moment, so this outfit ticks all the right boxes with iconic adidas trainers and satin bomber jacket whilst still having a festival feel to it.
Outfit 4
A playful Coachella outfit with lots of textures, denim, pops of colour, suede fringing, statement sunglasses and embroidered details. This is a youthful outfit for those who want to make a fun sartorial statement. Reserve this outfit for festivals only, not a look to wear everyday.

Taylor Swift Loves Matching Separates

Ok, so aside from being the biggest popstar in the world, Taylor Swift also has incredible style. Dressed to perfection on every occasion, both her red carpet style and street style looks are so polished and immaculate. Taylor's style is super feminine. Once opting for pretty 50's inspired tea dresses, Taylor is now a major fan of tiny little crop tops and super short flared skirts. With this in mind, her current go to everyday look is a matching co-ord set.
Turning the sidewalk into a makeshift runway every time she steps outside, Taylor has found her perfect signature style. The crop tops show off her incredible toned abs, and the skirts accentuate her statuesque model-like figure. Completing the look, she always wears a killer pair of heels, a classic ladylike handbag and a red lip. Overall, it is a great look for Spring/Summer.
The key to getting Taylor's look, is to always make sure your top and skirt are matching. Whether it be printed or plain there are many different versions of this look available to shop. Pencil skirts are a safer option and a longer length top also works well if you do not want to show off your midriff...because let's face it, we don't all have washboard abs *sigh*. Floral prints should be pretty and colours can either be pastel or bright. Three brands in particular who always have matching co-ords each season, and also happen to be brands that Taylor loves are: Elizabeth and James, Alice and Olivia and Tanya Taylor. I have put together this edit showing you some of the best matching co-ords currently available, all of which I think would get the seal of approval from Taylor. Which is you favourite Taylor street style look from this post?

1. Elizabeth and James / 2. Alice & Olivia / 3. Milly / 4. Tanya Taylor
5. Tanya Taylor / 6. Elizabeth and James / 7. Alice & Olivia / 8. River Island

Outfit of The Month - April

Stepping into Spring this April, I wanted to add a subtle nautical element into my 'Outfit of The Month'. Instead of going for a classic Breton stripe, I instead opted for a lightweight pinstriped georgette shirt from Steve J & Yoni P. This brand has great everyday separates, including lots of cotton and denim pieces all in easy to wear neutral colours. I have teamed this shirt with a classic A-line leather mini skirt from Maje. Like before, Maje is also great for classic wardrobe essentials which will see you through different seasons and can be mixed and matched to style different outfits. For a handbag choice, I have gone for a Loewe knotted bucket bag. This non-structured  bag gives the outfit an overall casual feel. Shoes come courtesy of Simone Rocha. These metallic leather brogues from her SS16 collection come with a clear perspex heel which make a super cool sartorial statement. I have added a minimalist 2-strand necklace from Isabel Marant to complete the look. All these garments and accessories are available to shop now from Net-a-Porter.

On Trend For Spring: Striped Knitwear

You just can't get away from stripes at the moment, especially on knitwear. Seen on the runway at Tommy Hilfiger, Milly, J.W.Anderson, and Sonia Rykiel, bold stripes for Spring are a huge trend.

A long sleeved striped jumper will be perfect styled with skinny jeans or tailored black trousers and a cool pair of trainers for a relaxed vibe. A super easy wardrobe essential, you don't need to accessorise with jewellery as the stripes are bold enough to be a conversation starter. The high street has jumped on board with this trend as well, so whether your budget is luxury or you are looking for something at a lower price point, you will find it easy to get your hands on this look. Zara and Topshop in particular do great knitwear, so head there for something super affordable. Classic knitwear doesn't really ever go out of style, so invest in this trend now and it will actually last you for the next few seasons. Here are the best striped garments available to shop now...
1. Sonia Rykiel £960 / 2. MSGM £325 / 3. J.W.Anderson £450

Archive by Alexa for M&S

Alexa Chung has teamed up with British retail giant, Marks and Spencer, to create an exclusive 31-piece collection featuring revived archive pieces. Who better than Alexa Chung, known for her enviable style and love of vintage, to curate this line? It is also the first in the new 'M&S &' series in which trend setters and designers will create capsule collections.
Given access to the M&S archives, Alexa selected her favourite pieces and then they were given a new lease of life to bring them up to date using modern fabrics and new colours. Alexa is not the first British style icon to work with Marks and Spencer. She follows in the footsteps of her friend, model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, whose 'Rosie for Autograph' collection and lingerie line have been a huge success. I am a big fan of Marks and Spencer - they have some great, on trend, coats, bags and shoes which is why I am looking forward to shopping the Alexa collection. Expect neutral colours and classic tailoring. Here are some of the key pieces...

A/W16 Menswear - Top 5

This is the first time I have posted about Men's fashion week on my blog, but I thought it would be a good way to bring some new content to my blog. The Men's Fashion Week shows took place in January, sandwiched in-between the end of the Pre Fall presentations and Couture fashion week. I thought I would highlight my favourite 5 collections...
Balmain
A powerful display of decadence with historical references. Satin, velvet and leather trousers in deep navy, contrasted against rich red tones. Military-esque styling and embroidered detailing delivered a signature Balmain aesthetic. Stripes and paisley jacquard completed the collection.
Dior Homme
Classic, tailored separates that will look great season after season. I adored the use of the colour wine and checkerboard prints. Monochrome floral prints were added to trousers and knitwear, creating the more statement pieces in the collection.
Salvatore Ferragamo
The striking geometric prints and pops of bold colour were what drew me to this collection. This was easy to wear, tailored, everyday pieces that were classic in style and silhouette. Each look was paired with a pair of oxfords, to complete this well rounded collection.
Gucci
Eclecticism was the order of the day at Gucci, also seen at the SS16 womenswear show. A complex Gucci aesthetic fusing; 70's influences, brocades, colour, plaid, print, embroidery and texture. This is not an easy to wear everyday collection, instead a sartorial choice for those who prefer a more bold sense of style. Individual pieces will have more longevity styled with more practical separates.
Alexander McQueen
Butterfly and moth motifs were woven and printed onto tailored jackets and suits - a signature McQueen motif. Red, black and white added a sense of drama into the mix, as did some of the voluminous silhouettes. I particularly liked the tailcoats.
